Communities That We Serve

John Allen Construction builds projects throughout the Northern California counties of Amador, Calaveras and Tuolumne, including the towns of Angels Camp, Mountain Ranch, Jackson and Sutter Creek. If you are unfamiliar with the area, here are some highlights of the areas where we can build your dream home or business:

Amador County

Amador County enjoys a rich history thanks to California's Gold Rush. Several famous gold mines are located in Amador County, including the Argonaut, Kennedy, and Sutter Mines. Today, Amador County benefits from many popular attractions. Tourism draws visitors to tour the mines and the historic buildings of yesteryear. Wine connoisseurs have discovered the award-winning Shenandoah Valley wine growing region. Quaint country villages feature world-class shopping and dining. In their annual survey, Progressive Farmer named Amador County one of the "Best Places to Live in Rural America."

Jackson is the county seat of Amador County. Jackson's historic downtown features a walking tour, complete with antique shops, museums, historic hotels, and Gold Rush Era cemeteries. Started as a mining camp, Jackson offers a Farmers Market, many fine restaurants, and an annual flea market.

Sutter Creek is named after John A. Sutter, the owner of the mill where the Gold Rush began. Sutter Creek is home to numerous live theater companies. Antique shops, art galleries, and book stores line the quaint downtown streets.

Calaveras County

Calaveras County is located in the heart of The Gold Country. Made famous by Mark Twain in his short story The Celebrated Jumping Frog of Calaveras County, Calaveras County is home to caverns, museums, and historic mines, as well as wineries, art galleries, and antique shops. Many outdoor recreational opportunities exist in Calaveras County, including downhill skiing, fishing, boating, golfing, caving, and panning for gold. The town of San Andreas is the county seat and you will find shopping and dining in the picturesque mining towns of Angels Camp, Murphys and Mokelumne Hill.

Calaveras County also boasts a number of impressive golf course communities including:

Greenhorn Creek Golf Resort, located near the historic mining town of Angels Camp, boasts an 18-hole Robert Trent Jones II championship golf course. Other amenities include swimming pools, tennis courts, fitness facilities, hiking and walking trails, and two restaurants.

Forest Meadows Golf Resort, located near the historic village of Murphys, features a golf course, parks, swimming pools, tennis courts, playgrounds, picnic areas, hiking and riding trails.

Tuolumne County

Tuolumne County is the gateway to Yosemite National Park, and the county has many natural attractions of its own, including skiing, snowmobiling, hiking, camping and rafting. Tuolumne County is also the home of two dog-friendly state parks; an authentic Gold Rush Era business district, including shops, restaurants, and two hotels, can be toured at the Columbia State Historic Park, and the Railtown State Historic Park features steam-powered train rides.
